ANALISIS KANDUNGAN BAHAN KIMIA OBAT (BKO) BISAKODIL PADA JAMU PELANGSING YANG BEREDAR DI TOKO OBAT KOTA BATAM MENGGUNAKAN METODE SPEKTROFOTOMETRI UV-VIS
Abstract
Increasingly intense competition in the herbal medicine (jamu) industry has driven the illegal addition of drug chemical adulterants (Bahan Kimia Obat/BKO), including bisacodyl in slimming herbal products, to produce rapid weight-loss effects through a laxative mechanism. According to a BPOM press release from December 2025, 32 illegal natural medicine products containing BKO were identified, including bisacodyl in slimming jamu. This study aimed to determine the presence and level of bisacodyl BKO in slimming jamu sold at drugstores in Batam City. This descriptive-analytic laboratory-based study used six slimming jamu samples obtained through purposive sampling from drugstores around Pasar Penuin and Pasar Jodoh, analyzed qualitatively using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) for initial screening and quantitatively using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry for confirmation, with the method validated for linearity, LOD/LOQ, precision, and accuracy. UV-Vis analysis revealed that only sample S4 exhibited an absorption peak at 264 nm, close to the maximum wavelength of the bisacodyl standard (263.6 nm), with a bisacodyl content of 4.03%. The method validation parameters met the required criteria, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9979, %RSD below 2%, and percent recovery ranging from 100.55–104.80%. It can be concluded that of the six slimming jamu samples circulating in drugstores in Batam City, one sample (S4) was confirmed positive for bisacodyl BKO, indicating a persistent safety risk in slimming jamu products.
