Withdrawal of Manuscript

1. General Principle

Medihealth: Jurnal Ilmu Kesehatan dan Sains is committed to maintaining the integrity of its scholarly record. Therefore, the journal will retract, withdraw, or correct articles if significant errors or ethical violations are found, in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

2. Article Withdrawal

2.1. Definition

Article withdrawal is a way to hinder the publication process for manuscripts that have not yet been published (still in the review or pre-publication stage).

2.2. Reason for Withdrawal

Articles can be withdrawn if:

  • Duplicate submissions to other journals were discovered
  • An ethical violation was identified prior to publication
  • The author submitted a withdrawal with acceptable reasons
  • Fundamental errors in the data or methodology were discovered
  • Manuscript withdrawal after the review process has started is subject to a penalty. The authors will be blacklisted and prohibited from submitting manuscripts to this journal for the following two publication issues.

2.3. Procedur

  • Withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing by the author.
  • The editor evaluates the request and makes a final decision.
  • Withdrawed manuscripts will not proceed to the publication stage.

3. Article Retraction

3.1. Definition

Article retraction is carried out on published articles if serious violations are found that damage the scientific validity of the article.

3.2. Reason for Retraction

Articles may be retract if it is proven that:

  • Plagiarism or self-plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Dual publication
  • Research ethics violations
  • Citation manipulation
  • Fatal errors that result in invalid findings

3.3. Procedur

  • The editor conducts an investigation in accordance with the COPE Flowcharts.
  • The author is given the opportunity to provide clarification.
  • The retraction decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
  • The Retraction Notice will be published publicly.

3.4. Retraction Form

  • The article remains available online to preserve the scientific record.
  • The article is clearly marked as “Retracted.”
  • The Retraction Notice lists the reasons for the withdrawal without any punitive language.

4. Correction / Erratum / Corrigendum

4.1. Definition

Corrections are published when the errors found do not change the main conclusions of the article.

4.2. Type of Correction

  • Erratum: errors caused by the journal

  • Corrigendum: errors caused by the author


5. Expression of Concern

If there is an alleged ethical violation that is still under investigation, the journal may publish an Expression of Concern to inform readers.


6. Transparency and Access

  • All withdrawal, retraction, and correction notices are open and accessible.
  • Retracted articles remain accessible for academic purposes with clear signage.
  • Article metadata will be updated according to the latest status.

7. Dispute Handling

In the event of a dispute regarding the decision to retract or withdraw:

  • The journal will handle it professionally and confidentially.
  • The final decision will follow COPE guidelines and the journal's editorial policy.
